Stacey Lucchino and her family have been avid supporters of Canine Companions® since 2001 when she and her husband Larry witnessed first-hand how a service dog can change the life of a person with disabilities.

After moving to New England from San Diego, Larry became president/CEO of the Boston Red Sox and Stacey accepted an invitation to join the Northeast Regional Board. She has been generous in using her connections to the Red Sox organization to help spread awareness about Canine Companions, as well as raise funds to support the organization.

The Red Sox also stepped up to the plate when it came to helping raise Canine Companions puppy Fenway! Puppy Fenway became well known in the clubhouse. Fans would even chant his name during games. Stacey created a blog called ‘Fenway the Dog’ to follow his journey. This became the top blog in Major League Baseball that year, helping spread awareness of our mission.

Stacey has created many successful fundraisers in conjunction with the Red Sox, including Pups in the Park calendars and a fashion show that raised capital for the Miller Family Campus in 2010. To celebrate the 100-year anniversary of historic Fenway Park, Canine Companions was included in the 100 Acts of Kindness Red Sox campaign.

Most recently amid covid-19, Stacey helped make our first annual DogFest New England a huge success. She enlisted the help of popular New England Sports Network anchor Tom Caron, with appearances from Red Sox superstar, David Ortiz, and The Voice finalist, Michelle Brooks-Thompson. The event far exceeded its original goal of $25,000 and has raised over $40,000.

Stacey has helped to partner Canine Companions with Home Base Veteran & Family Care in Boston, which brings awareness to our Veterans’ Initiative and our PTSD program.

The Northeast Region is so grateful to Stacey and all she has done to support the mission of Canine Companions.
