The 24th Annual Tales & Tails Gala Is a Success

The Tales & Tails Gala is the Southeast Region’s single most important fundraiser and the 2020 event exceeded its financial and virtual attendance goals in support of the life transformative work of Canine Companions for Independence.

Attendance during the livestream reached more than 500 individuals and thousands have tuned in to watch the replay on YouTube.

During the virtual event, individual donations ranged from $25 to over $40,000, more than 95 auction items were sold, and viewers heard inspiring stories, such as Joe and Service Dog Helios. Helios provides help and support to Joe after a life changing event.

In addition, our sponsors, friends and supporters helped raise close to $600,000, including more than $225,000 during our “cash call,” that evening, allowing Canine Companions to make more perfect matches between exceptional dogs and exceptional people.

The Southeast Region’s Board President Mary Taylor Jacobs said the results of the virtual gala are ‘wonderfully successful.’  “We are thrilled to have exceeded our goal. By presenting the event virtually we reached a broader audience and for that I am very proud. I’m also incredibly grateful to all the supporters who showed up to support us during this challenging time.”
