Help Us Put the Shovel in the Ground

“My whole world opened up when I received my first Canine Companions® assistance dog, Marcie, in 2004,” explains Amanda. “She was with me when I started college, moved into my first apartment and began my adult life. Because I have challenges with mobility, having Marcie pull my wheelchair, help carry groceries and retrieve dropped items allowed me to live independently. Without Marcie, living on my own would not have been possible.” In 2015, Amanda was matched with her second Canine Companions assistance dog, Jenna.

Canine Companions wants to serve even more people with disabilities and we have launched a national capital campaign for a new campus in Ohio. Team Training participants who come to this campus to learn to work with their new assistance dogs will no longer have to pay for a two-week hotel stay. The weather won’t be a factor when it comes to getting to class, and students and their families will have an opportunity to bond with their classmates.

Help us put the shovel in the ground on April 3. Now through March 31, with your donation of $25 or more, you will receive an “Invest in Independence” shovel keychain. Click here to get your keychain today!
