Southeast Region Graduations
Canine Companions is taking precautions related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) to limit its effect on our community. We are taking additional steps to protect our team members, volunteers and clients and have made the decision to cancel graduation ceremonies. We understand that this decision may be disappointing, but we know it is in the best interest of all. While the ceremonies won’t take place, we will be working directly with students to deliver some parts of the curriculum through distance learning, combined with small in person classes on campus. In addition, while we are unable to celebrate our matriculating puppies in person, we thank them for their love and dedication.
These measures are being taken in an abundance of caution and in accordance with the guidelines put forth by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We are grateful to our generous community and appreciate all continued efforts to fulfill our mission of enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by providing expertly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support completely free of charge.
We know this is an unprecedented time and our thoughts are with those who have been impacted. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Canine Companions for Independence’s graduation ceremonies represent the culmination of hard work, love and dedication of a great many people. Graduations are held eight times annually in the Southeast Region and are open to the public, except on occasion when the ceremony is held at a special venue. Join the new Canine Companions for Independence graduates and their assistance dogs as they team up and embark on their new lives with enhanced independence, and cheer on the newest dogs matriculating into professional training.
