Canine Companions for Executive Director
Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) seeks nominations and applications for the position of Southwest Region (SWR) Executive Director. Since its founding in 1975, Canine Companions has been the nation’s premier leader in enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure excellence in the quality of partnerships. Canine Companions for Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with regional leadership, the SWR Executive Director will oversee the region’s strategic, service, programmatic and financial operations. S/he will develop and implement regional fundraising and development programs aligned with national strategies; lead accomplished, diverse and talented staff; and serve as a key liaison to regional staff providing leadership, management and evaluative support in program and service delivery to enhance Canine Companions’ reach and impact. The SWR Executive Director will play a prominent and critical role in expanding philanthropic support to the Southwest region. S/he will work to identify and source grant opportunities; oversee planning and coordination of successful fundraising events; cultivate, solicit and stewarding new donors; and enhance relationships with current and prospective corporations, foundations and individual donors. In addition, the SWR Executive Director will collaborate with the National Director of Development and Southwest regional board, Department Heads and staff to align regional funding goals with national strategies for long-term benefit. The successful candidate will also manage regional office finances to ensure fiscal responsibility and planning for continued growth of sustainable revenue streams, programs and asset building including developing appropriate budgets, financial controls, reporting systems and compliance measures. The SWR Executive Director will possess a minimum of eight to ten years of professional leadership and management expertise, and at least five years of professional fundraising and development experience in a mission-driven environment. S/he will have proven expertise in tactical planning, service delivery, program management and evaluation, relationship and coalition building, and revenue growth.
