Top Brass & Tails 

The Gold Rush Chapter hosted the Top Brass & Tails concert on October 21, 2011. it was a concert by the Mirari Brass Quintet to benefit Canine Companions for Independence. It was held in Sacramento and included meet and greet time with the band. Even the dogs got to meet the band!

9th Annual Gift of Miracles 

The 9th annual Gift of Miracles gala was held on October 8, 2011 at the Lynnwood Convention Center in Lynnwood, WA. Hosted by the Puget Sound Volunteer Chapter, the event featured a live and silent auction, dinner and music, The event surpassed its goal by raising $108,000 for Canine Companions.

  2nd Annual Paws to Celebrate
 

The 2nd annual Paws to Celebrate event was held at Retzlaff Vineyards in Livermore, CA on October 1, 2011. Hosted by the East Bay Miracles Chapter, the event featured a silent auction, games, live music, as well as a demonstration by a Canine Companions trainer and graduate. W. Bruce Cameron was also on site to sign copies of his new book "A Dog's Purpose." The event surpassed its goal by raising over $22,500 for Canine Companions.

3rd Annual Bone Appétit

The 3rd annual Bone Appétit event was held Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the Jean and Charles Schulz Campus in Santa Rosa, CA.

Over 400 guests enjoyed food and wine pairings from over 46 local wineries, breweries, chefs, and restaurants. The crowd heard a moving talk by Facility Team Jennifer and Nilani, who work at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco. After expenses, the event raised over $185,000, which will go a long way toward supporting the Northwest Region's efforts to provide assistance dogs to 66 new graduate teams, ongoing support to 245 graduate teams, as well as the training and support of 300 puppy raisers in the region.

 3rd Annual Zoom Zoom Woof Woof

The 3rd annual Zoom Zoom Woof Woof classic car show was held on September 3, 2011 at the El Dorado Hills Town Center. It was another successful event organized by NW board member Kathy Zastrow and the Gold Rush Campions Volunteer Chapter. It raised nearly $10,000 for Canine Companions.

   1st Annual Paws to Celebrate - 35 Years of Making Miracles

Held October 9, 2010 at Retzlaff Vineyard in Livermore, CA.

The event featured a great silent auction, delicious food by the Livermore Lions Club and wine. Entertainment included Sterling Thomas doing his magic with bubles, doggie dancing from Motion Dynamics with Dogs can Dance, and live music by the Vachter Brothers.

8th Annual Gift of Miracles Gala Dinner & Auction

"The Art of Independence"

Held Satuday, October 9, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue, WA.

The event featured remarks by NW Graduate Andrew Pike, Retired Army Specialist and Iraqi War veteran, accompanied by his Service Dog, Yazmin, as well as wonderful silent and live auctions and many fun games of chance.

2nd Annual Bone Appetit- A Celebration of Great Pairings - What a groovy success!
Held Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 2 -7 p.m. at
the Jean and Charles Schulz Campus, Santa Rosa, CA.
 
Over 500 people attended and the weather was perfect! Guest enjoyed food and wine pairings from over 40 local wineries and restaurants. The highlight of the event was when 68 people helped raise over $36,000 for the Fund-A-Team training portion of the Live Auction!

 2nd Annual Zoom Zoom Woof Woof Classic Car Show was a success!

Held Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Thank you to the El Dorado Hills Town Center and it's merchants in El Dorado Hills, CA for supporting this event.

Over 1,000 people attended this year's event and viewed over 100 beautiful classic cars. Come and enjoy CCI dogs, great cars, food and drink. This is a fun-filled day not to be missed!

WOOF! WOOF!  Canine & Wine Party at Merriam Vineyards

 Held August 28, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 11650 Los Amigos Road, Healdsburg, California 95448

Calling all dogs! Wag your tail - The Dog Days of Summer are here.
All dogs are invited to bring their owners on a leash to the Canine & Wine Party.

Guests entered into a contest for best human and dog look-a-like. Wag and smile for the free photographic portrait session. Dog tricks and stupid human tricks were rewarded. Everyone received tastes and treats.

Four - legged friends got yummy biscuits while their two-legged friends were treated to hot dogs, veggie dogs and Polish dogs with delicious wine country gourmet toppings.

Wines was poured by Merriam Vineyards "Best of Show" lineup and the admission fee of $10 was donated to Canine Companions for Independence.

Our volunteer appreciation party was a huge success!Volunteers were treated to an ice cream social served by CCI staff!

Our volunteers are the heart of CCI, thank you for dedicating your time and talent to CCI!

 

 


Bark in the Park and CCI Salutes Independence

 

Held Sunday, July 11, 2010 in Tacoma Washington

Thank you to CCI's amazing Puget Sound Volunteer Chapter for coordinating the first ever Bark in the Park at the Tacoma Rainiers Cheney Stadium.

Over 300 tickets to the Tacoma Rainiers vs. Fresno Grizzlies minor league baseball game were given to active and retired members of the military, their friends and family with the intent to increase awareness of CCI's Wounded Veterans Initiative. Also, many puppy raisers and graduates attended with their CCI dogs.

Gabe Murfitt with his Service Dog Ruthie threw out the first pitch and attendees learned about CCI throughout the game and had an opportunity to meet one-on-one with CCI instructors to learn more the benefits of applying for an assistance dog.

Thank you to the Pacific Life Foundation for funding CCI's outreach efforts to increase awareness of our Wounded Veterans Initiative.


Beaglefest X - A Tail Waggin' Good Time

Approximately 150 Peanuts enthusiasts from all over the world gathered in Santa Rosa over the July 4th holiday weekend for the tenth annual Beaglefest. Their auction efforts and generous members contributed a whopping $15,000 to CCI. We are doing the Snoopy happy dance. Thank you!


Dog-Lover's Festival at Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, CA

 

 Held Friday, June 25th from 12 to 8 p.m. at the Petaluma Fair Grounds

CCI had an info booth at the Dog-Lover's Festival, where the Ugliest Dog Contest was held. There was plenty of fun activities such as kids reading to dogs, doggy cuisine, nose work for dogs, tips for adopting and dog training. It was a great awareness opportunity for CCI!


NWR Board Project: CCI has arrived in San Francisco!

Northwest Board members Marlene Siminow, Charlie Krystofiak, Kathy Zastrow and Lin Nelson spearheaded CCI's first-ever booth at the Union Street Festival in San Francisco, June 5-6. With the help of CCI puppy raisers, graduate teams, breeder caretakers, facility dog handlers, and committed volunteers from Sacramento, Reno, and the East Bay, Festival attendees who passed the booth were treated to demonstrations, friendly exchanges of information and, of course, lots of hands-on petting of the many CCI dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds present.

One of San Francisco's largest free events, the Festival attracted approximately 100,000 attendees, and the Board's participation was aimed at increasing awareness of CCI as well as recruiting volunteers and puppy raisers in San Francisco.

Both goals were achieved, with many people expressing interest and requesting further conversations. Spontaneous donations topped the $500 mark, a sum later matched by an anonymous friend of CCI for a total of more than $1000. Thank you, Northwest Board members. Keep up the great work!


Human Race 2010

Many CCI volunteers, graduates, supporters and staff members participated in the Sonoma County Human Race on Saturday, May 8th.

We won best message for our t-shirt: "Giving from the Heart for 35 Years (That's 245 in Dog Years!)" Happy Birthday, CCI! So far, we are in second place and have raised almost $16,000.00 online and that does not could off-line pledges! Thank you to everyone who participated in the Human Race, either through collecting pledges, donating or walking, running or rolling in the race. We couldn't do it without you!


The Sisters of Scota, WMC Present Biker Dog Run 2010 "Marking the Delta" Poker Run

Held Saturday, May 8th, this fun event featured live music by Spotted Dog Revue, vendors, a raffle and t-shirt and lunch for participants. Riders with dogs on bikes during the received a free pin. For more information call 916-927-0232 or visit their event website.

Luck of the Irish

 

The first Luck of the Irish held on Saturday, March 14 in Menlo Park was a big success!

This fun-filled event featured lunch, raffle prizes, a silent auction and a special version of Bingo. The goal of this event was first and to have fun and secondly to increase awareness of CCI.

The First Annual Tapas, Treasures & Treats

This event was held on Saturday, April 17th at the Jean and Charles Schulz Campus and it was a huge success with over $6,000 raised for CCI!
