Florida Horse Festival & Carriage Show - February 19-21, 2010

This event is designed to be spectator friendly and interactive featuring equine performances throughout the weekend. Ticket cost also includes admission to the Florida State Carriage Museum.
Canine Companions for Independence will have a graduate and other volunteers in the Center Ring on Friday and Saturday doing talks and demonstrations.

Last year we raised over $64,000 with this program. Let's try to do it again this year!

7th Annual Athens Run For The Dogs •

The Georgia Volunteer Chapter for Canine Companions for Independence will host their seventh annual fundraiser, Athens Run for the Dogs, in Athens, Georgia. It will be held at Sandy Creek Park, 400 Bob Hollman Road on Saturday, September 19, 2009.
The event will include a 5K race for runners and a 1-mile fun run and walk for people and their dogs. Dogs may participate in all but the 5K race. Dogs can participate with their owners for free. The entrance fee includes a t-shirt for registered humans and a bandana for participating dogs. Check-in and registration will start at 8:00 a.m. and races will begin at 9:00 a.m.
In addition to the races there will be a raffle with the top prize of $500.00 in cash. Tickets are $2.00 each. Other activities include testing for AKC Canine Good Citizenship and Therapy Dogs International, games for people and their dogs, pet-related vendors and entertainment.

Update:
We are thrilled to report that we raised $16,870 in donations , and an additional $31,400 was pledged to CCI over the next four years. The grand total raised and pledged at the event was $48,270!
The event was a wonderful opportunity to introduce some new people to CCI, as well as give some of our current supporters the chance to learn more about the organization and meet some of our Graduate Teams. Thank you to everyone involved, whose determination and passion for CCI made this event possible.

Making Miracles Happen Breakfast

The Making Miracles Happen Breakfast will be an opportunity for people to learn more about Canine Companions for Independence and make a commitment to help us move forward. The program will include a special presentation by a Graduate from the South Florida area and a request for the attendees support. This support will help us continue to change the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs at no cost to the recipient.
We are currently looking for individuals who would like to attend and/or serve as Table Captains at this event. Table Captains are responsible for bringing 8-9 guests to the event that they believe can be financial supporters of the organization. 22nd Annual Atlanta Dog Jog

The 22nd Annual Atlanta Dog Jog will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, GA. The event includes a 1 mile race beginning at 9:00 a.m. and 2 mile race beginning at 9:30 a.m. Registration is $21 in advance and $30 on the day of the race. The fee includes one short-sleeved t-shirt and a race bandana for your dog.

Bloomingdale's Shopping Benefit

Canine Companions for Independence will participate in a unique event, The Shopping Benefit on October 23, 2008 from 10 am to 10 pm at Bloomingdale’s five Florida stores including Town Center in Boca Raton, The Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens, Aventura Mall in Aventura, The Falls in Miami and The Mall at Millenia in Orlando. Nearly 150 charities from Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, as well as central Florida, will benefit from funds raised through ticket sales. More than $100,000 is expected to be distributed among participating charities supporting their community-based programs.
The Shopping benefit will feature storewide entertainment, fashion events and special discounts. Tickets are on sale for $10.00 each and 100 percent of these proceeds benefit participating charities. Ticket holders will receive a certificate for 15-20 percent savings off Bloomingdale’s regular and sale priced merchandise on the day of the event (with limited exclusions.)
