![]() Canine Companions for Independence will hold a free community event on Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Called CANINE COMPANIONS SALUTES INDEPENDENCE, the event is geared toward military veterans, active duty service members, their families and friends. CANINE COMPANIONS SALUTES INDEPENDENCE will highlight the Wounded Veterans Initiative, which was established to place assistance dogs with injured service members from the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts.
