Graduation
Graduation

Canine Companions for Independence graduation ceremonies occur at least four times a year in the North Central region. Graduation marks the end of a rigorous two-week Team Training program where Canine Companions' highly-trained assistance dogs are partnered with a child or adult with a disability or a person who will use the dog to help people with disabilities and both human and canine are trained to work together as a team.
During the graduation ceremony, the volunteer puppy raisers of graduating dogs “pass the leash” to the new graduates, marking the official start of a long and valuable partnership and symbolizing the dog’s transition from dog-in-training to assistance dog.

Congratulations to the February 2012 Graduating class!
