Canine Companions for Independence® was founded in the Northwest Region in 1975.
Both the National Headquarters and Northwest Regional Center are located on the Jean and Charles Schulz Campus in Santa Rosa, California.

The Northwest Regional Center of CCI is responsible for graduates, puppy raisers, applicants and candidates, breeder caretakers, volunteers, donors, and supporters in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Northern Nevada, Northern California, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. Currently there are 371 active graduates, 260 volunteer puppy raisers, 117 breeder caretakers, plus more than 1,000 dedicated volunteers in this region.
