The Best Dogs

Hearing Dog Hazel is always working for Karen, whether it is alerting Karen to her alarm clock, someone calling her name or an emergency vehicle coming down the road. “I don’t have to depend on someone to wake me up. I’m less reliant on my family because of my hearing dog,” explains Karen. “When I’m in public, Hazel helps people realize I’m Deaf and can’t hear them.”

Karen received her first hearing dog from Canine Companions in 1991 and recently received her third hearing dog, Hazel. “I keep coming back to Canine Companions because I’m so impressed with the quality of the dogs I’ve received. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They’re always there if I need them.”

Thanks to supporters like you, Karen has received each of her hearing dogs free of charge.

Karen says, “Canine Companions dogs love to work and want to help. My dogs were trained to alert me to sounds that are important to me. Those sounds become important to them. They are so eager to please and to do their job.”
