So Happy Together

Taking off her shoes, so she can relax at the end of a long day. Picking up a pen she drops while taking notes in the lecture hall. Comforting her when things go wrong and lifting her spirits on a rough day---Service Dog Berken is always by Devan’s side.

Devan is a bright young college student who loves playing the guitar, shopping and going to the beach. She also has cerebral palsy, limiting her mobility.

“It’s a long list of things that Berken helps me with,” Devan explains. “He pulls my walker towards me when it’s out of my reach, he tugs off my socks and shoes and he turns off the light when I’m lying in bed. He also makes me more sociable and helps me make friends.”

With Berken, Devan no longer has to ask others for help with these everyday tasks. Berken does them for her with a smile in his eyes and a wag of his tail. Berken increases Devan’s independence, and that’s not all.

Check out this video of Devan and Berken in action.

National Graduation Day

The last graduations of 2013 are happening across the country on November 8. Graduation is a moving celebration of our mission. New graduate teams celebrate the beginning of their partnerships of increased independence thanks to the tasks that our assistance dogs perform. Puppy raisers celebrate their accomplishments and their puppy’s accomplishments as the puppies enter professional training.

Join us in November and mark your calendars for our 2014 graduations!

Update on the E Litter

It's not every day that the E Litter pups get to spend time with their siblings from across the country. So when Elmo made the trip to Santa Rosa, CA for Team Training graduation, Ethan and Emily were thrilled...time for a photo shoot! Read more and check out the amazing photos of these adorable and extraordinary dogs!

Not only are the E Litter pups extraordinary, but their volunteer puppy raisers are incredible as well. These volunteers care for, train and love these puppies for the first 20 months of their lives. Click here to read more about our volunteer puppy raisers.
