A Beautiful Smile

Challenged with a rare condition, Kylie has difficulty walking, speaking, and eating. But, since receiving Canine Companions assistance dog Stasha, one thing Kylie does without any difficulty is smile.

In public, having Stasha around has been very beneficial for Kylie. “Stasha allows Kylie to interact with the public and her peers in a more positive way.” Rather than just being stared at, Kylie is regularly approached by people who want to meet her dog. Stasha also offers opportunities for Kylie to work on fine motor skills while grooming and petting her. Giving Stasha commands, praising her for a job well done or talking about her to peers serves as a form of speech therapy.

Check out the recent news story about Kylie and Stasha!
