|November 17, 2013 | Going Undercover with a Fake Service Dog|
Canine Companions for Independence was featured in a recent story by CBS Chicago regarding the ease of buying fake service dogs credentials online and using them in public. The reporter worked with a retired police officer to go undercover and bring her pet dog into stores, restaurants, and the movie theater after purchasing a vest and badge online. The badges looked authentic with holographic images, id numbers, and what looked like government seals. Canine Companions Graduate Brian Sabatino was interviewed and shared his thoughts on fake service dogs and the risk they pose to people with disabilities.
