It’s a pleasure to introduce you to Kinsey Blalock, our volunteer that takes care of Yappy Hours in the Dallas Metroplex. Kinsey first heard about Canine Companions from her fellow Baylor alum Jessica (Morey) Spaeth when they attended the first ever Lone Star Chapter meeting in February 2015. She loved the mission and purpose of Canine Companions and has been an active volunteer since.
Kinsey found a place to contribute with her time and efforts by coordinating the two Yappy Hours last year at Sloan & Williams and has lots of fresh ideas for this coming year. When asked what she enjoyed most about planning and hosting the Yappy Hours, she replied “Yappy Hours are unique in the fact that they are essentially casual, aimed at drawing in donations and volunteers and ultimately spreading our outreach. I think the most enjoyable aspect of the Yappy Hour planning is knowing that the proceeds will be put to good use and we can reach other people that could be potential recipients or advocated for the mission. I feel I’ve grown closer to a lot of volunteers in the planning process as well!”
Having Yappy Hours and other events throughout the Metroplex area is one of the ideas that Kinsey and her team is focusing on this year to help reel in more volunteers. She loves having a purpose beyond her 8-5 job as a recruiter for an executive search firm in Frisco, where she concentrates on Finance and Accounting roles in the DFW area. We love her energy and fresh ideas and hope she can bring more young professionals like herself into the Canine Companions organization.
Kinsey is originally from Dayton, TX where she still has family she visits. She graduated in May 2012 with a degree in Marketing. Her favorite team is Baylor and you can find her at the North Bark Dog Park in Far North Dallas with Teddy her three year old Yorkie/Maltese, playing sand volleyball, or dining at Pizzeria Testa in Frisco or Dallas-Taco Diner in Addison. Thank you Kinsey.
